ONECLICK WINS THE QUEEN'S AWARD FOR ENTERPRISE
OneClick's IntelliPlug saves electricity & money, scores with highest accolade from Queen's Award for Enterprise 2008
OneClick - a firm of just nine staff – has beaten off competition from every part of British industry to win the Queen's Award for Enterprise 2008 for Innovation with a simple yet effective product, the 'Intelliplug', which dramatically cuts electricity usage on consumer electronics. The IntelliPlug has a working life of one million clicks and saves the consumer over £250 during this course of time. These savings have been independently verified. He developed the Intelliplug with his small but dedicated team and the technology has been patented.
“The user simply plugs the peripherals –scanners, printers, games consoles, speakers etc into the Intelliplug –which then takes over. In techy-speak the Intelliplug has full range ‘Auto Calibration' - it will automatically determine the on/off power level of any desktop computer, hi-fi, audio visual amplifier or television to automatically switch power to peripheral equipment only when in use. All is fully explained on our website – www.intelliplug.com , ” says Mr Robertson.
In addition to this stark advantage the Intelliplug will guard against potentially destructive power surges and extend the working life of a home electronic product.
He adds , “We are so, so proud of this Award. It is an honour for our small but growing company. And we have won with a simple yet effective product – the IntelliPlug. It works so simply yet saves so much money and energy. All of our claims and statements are independently verified and all of our technologies are independently tested.
“We are selling the user a product - but we are also selling them a guarantee of acting in utmost good faith with claims and statements about our products which are true – as verified by independent third parties and testing houses.
The Intelliplug is calculated to pay back its purchase price with energy savings within one year and then continue for every year after to save more and more money on the electricity running costs.
The product has now added the Queen's Award to an Energy Savings Trust recommendation.
Says Peter Robertson, “Today's lifestyle consumes vast amounts of electricity for an ever growing number of household appliances and gadgets. These products are invariably left on standby it is costing us the earth. A recent survey by the Energy Saving Trust found that almost £750m worth of energy was wasted by equipment left ticking over and that the average household has up to 12 gadgets left on standby or charging at any one time.
"The most important point of IntellIplug and the whole ethos of our company is that consumer electronic products left on ‘standby',24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year and then multiplied by the 18 million households we have.......well, is it the entire output of two, three or four powers stations?"
“We believe in producing products which allows the consumer to continue their lifestyle and make a major contribution to energy saving. Every one of us has an obligation to do all that we sensibly can. And it will make a difference!”
